Pirate Mentoring Program
Seton Hall's Online Mentoring Experience

Make an impact on the life of a current student or young alumni

What is the Pirate Mentoring Program?

Seton Hall now connects Pirates from across the country and around the globe with current students and recent graduates. This exciting program allows students to actively seek out alumni from the areas of life that interest them. Once your information is entered in our online database students can view a profile that you create to see if you're the perfect mentor for them. The process is easy and you choose how students may contact you (i.e. 'by email only'), about what and how often. Whether you choose to mentor one student a month or 20 a year the effects will be long-lasting.

 How does it work?

That's the best part - it's easy! Alumni simply visit the University's Career Center web site and answer a few simple questions. After that, you'll receive an information email with a username and password for your online account. Follow the simple instructions, create an online profile by answering a few questions, choose your level of involvement and you're all set. Once your profile is complete you can sit back, relax and wait for SHU students to contact you.

What can I teach a current student?

Trust us, our students want to hear from you! Most students want to ask you about your career path, your current employer, what a typical day at the office is like or how your major led you to your current career. Students may also inquire about resume tips, job hunting skills and professional experiences.

Why Mentor? The bottom line...

  • Be personally fulfilled  Mentoring is a simple but very rewarding way to contribute to the personal and professional development of future colleagues and give back to Seton Hall. Sharing insights and experiences with a student or recent graduate is very personally satisfying.
  • Make a connection  An easy opportunity to reengage with your University and connect with the new wave of professionals who share your interests.
  • Share a unique experience  By taking advantage of the easy online access alumni, regardless of location or availability can still play a big role in the development and guidance of Seton Hall students and young alumni.
  • Enhance Seton Hall  Each and every alum who supports Seton Hall in some way is important to the ultimate goal of maintaining the University's position as a Top Tier National University.
